Door Releaselink
Model Y doors open mechanically or electronically. Both release methods will work if Model Y has Low Voltage (LV) power, however only the mechanical handle will open a door when Model Y has no power. Every door has a button near the top of the grab handle to electronically open the door. Front doors have a mechanical handle in addition to the electronic release button, in case of emergency. Rear doors also have a mechanical release. This release cable is located under the map pocket mat, keeping it concealed during normal uses.

Window Switchlink
Every door has a window control button. The driver's door window switch pack controls every window. Each passenger door has a single window switch to raise or lower that individual window. Therefore, there are six buttons on the driver's door, three buttons on the passenger's door, and two buttons on each of the rear doors.

Door Lightinglink
A map light is installed on every Model Y door. A puddle light is standard with every Model Y door and will turn on when the door is open. The doors are equipped with a map pocket ambient light. The door ajar and door latch signals are routed through the puddle light. As a result, the door state will not be accurate if the puddle light is disconnected.

Pillar Trimlink
Legacy Model Y vehicles have a lower and upper B-pillar, as shown below.

| Legacy B-Pillar |
Model Y Structural Pack vehicles have three components to the B-pillar:
-
The upper B-pillar, which is made of textile Providence material.
-
The middle B-pillar, which is made of wrapped Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) with a foam backing as well as a high retention clip with a screw that must be removed to service the trim and the metal clip should remain inside the body.
-
The lower B-pillar, which is carpeted.

Because of Structural Pack, the pillars are moving away from the plastic molded panels to improve scratch resistance on the lower trim and have premium materials.
Floor Matslink
Model Y has three floor mats. The driver's and front passenger's floor mats are separate and the rear floor mat is a wide mat that covers the entire rear passenger footwell. Each mat is cut to fit the shape of the footwell it is designed for and must be installed with the carpet facing the occupants. A high-retention backing on the mats keep them in position without visible fasteners.

Load Floorlink
Model Y has two lightweight load floors wrapped in a non-woven carpet and easy-lift strap. To access the storage space below, lift the load floor upwards. Both load floors have storage underneath, with the load floor closest to the liftgate having a larger depth than the storage closer to the second row. The load floor pivots along the rear edge of the liftgate trench and it can also be placed at the rear end of the liftgate carpet while loading items into the storage. It is preferred the customer always secure all loose objects. The two load floors can withstand a distributed load of 130kg. It is recommended to remove all items on the load floor before operating.

Headlinerlink
The Model Y headliner is split up into two portions and join only at the sides of the vehicle, leaving the middle of the roof to be open to the glass. The left body controller provides power to the overhead console. The map light, located in the overhead console, illuminates when the mechanical button is pressed, or when the doors open. Users can disable map lights illuminating automatically from the touchscreen. A hazard light button is located in the middle of the front overhead console. Both LTE and WiFi antennas are located in the headliner.

There are two sun visors installed to the front of the headliner. Each sun visor has a mirror cover. The mirror cover can be opened and folded down to reveal the mirror and two vanity lights. The vanity lights turn on when the cover is open and turn off when the cover is closed, as shown on the top and bottom images below, respectively.

Rear View Mirrorlink
Model Y has a three-layer rear view mirror that allows the mirror to "self-dim" for added driver comfort: The first layer of the mirror is a clear glass, the second layer is an electrochromatic film, and the third layer is a mirror. The electrochromatic film activates when a small voltage is applied to it, which causes the amount of light passing through it to decrease (dimming).

Heated Steering Wheellink
In DEC-2020, Model Y was released with a heated steering wheel. This steering wheel requires an updated left vehicle controller (VCLEFT), electronic control unit (ECU) for the steering wheel, and steering wheel. The steering wheel contains a resistive mat with a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) thermistor that measures the temperature of the heater mat as current is supplied to the resistive mat. The heater set temp is 39°C. If the ambient temperature is above 30°C, the steering wheel heat will not turn on. There are different suppliers of the heated steering wheel, which requires different firmware based off temperature models and the location of the NTC.
Glove Boxlink
Model Y does not have a physical button to open the glove box. The glove box can only be opened from the touchscreen. To prevent damage, the glove box will stop functioning if the glove box door is cycled (opened/closed) ten times in a row.

Model Y Structural Pack has a slightly different center console from legacy Model Y. The features and functionality are the same but the installation method differs. The center console slides on rails to be installed, with four shots instead of six. Two shots at the front in Y to the instrument panel and two shots at the rear in X to the rails.
